The Isle Of Capri
Back To Sorrento
Capri's
legendary beauty attracts day trippers by the thousand. Boats and hydrofoils run
year round from Sorrento and Naples. Most people come to indulge themselves in
lazy walks, lovely views and sipping drinks from flower decked terraces.
Boats
dock at Marina Grande, from where you can take a Funicular, up a steep
slope, to the village of Capri. Not just any funicular, but the one sung
about in the famous song 'Funiculi, Funicular'! Capri's central piazzetta is the
place to see and be seen.
Anacapri
is the island's other main village high above Capri itself, where you can stroll
around multi-coloured streets at your leisure, get there early is my advice.
Here you can take a chair lift to Monte Solaro (596m).
Emperor
Augustus Caesar so loved Capri that he spent a great deal of time here
and built the 'Giardini di Augusto' which are gardens with tremendous views of
the coast's cliffs and easily visited strolling from the piazzetta in Capri
village.
